From October 10, 2007 to November 20, 2007, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open an exhibition "At the Call of the Heart and Conscience" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Nicolay Chegrinets, the Belarusian writer and journalist, laureate of A.Fadeev and V. Pikul International prizes, honored worker of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, and political figure of the Republic of Belarus.


Nicolay Chegrinets began his career as a worker of domestic affairs bodies. In 1973 was published his first documentary story, further were published his detective stories and books dedicated both to the Great Patriotic War. Due to his experience in the field of the fight against criminality and clearance of crimes, Nicolay Chegrinets became one of the most popular Belarusian authors.

In the 1980th were published works dedicated to the war in Afghanistan, as well as political and historical detective stories, and books dedicated to the fight against terrorism.In 2000 the author wrote series of books “Criminal Investigation”. Nicolay Chegrinets is author of scientific works on jurisprudence, as well as scenarios and plays. Nicolay Chegrinets is the Chairman of the Union of Belarusian Writers.

The exhibition totals over 50 materials: books, collected stories, and several works by the author published in journals, as well as materials concerning the writer’s life and creative way.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
