A book exhibition "A high note of creativity” timed to the 75th birthday of writer, public figure and honored cultural worker of Belarus Eduard Skobelev runs from December 3 to January 10 at reading room 205.

Eduard Skobelev is a Belarusian writer writing in Russian, author of prose, poems and dramas. The author works in various genres: from a novel, including historical and political, to a poetic drama which is, according to A.S. Pushkin, the most complex kind of poetry. As a poet, Eduard Skobelev draws inspiration from A.S. Pushkin’s works when creating the literary images of the “great sons of the Motherland” – Francisk Skoryna, Simeon Polotsky, Symon Budny, Kazimir Leschinsky, Kastus Kalinovsky, Yanka Kupala, and also of ancient and medieval figures such as Socrates and Giordano Bruno. Historical figures become characters of his novels “The Witness”, (1987), “Miroslav, Prince Dregovichsky” (1979).

In 2005 Eduard Skobelev becomes the laureate of the President of the Republic of Belarus Special Award for his novel “Intersecting Parallels” (2005).

Eduard Skobelev is also the author of children’s literature: adventure stories and science fiction, fairytales and short stories have always been adored by young readers. In 1998 the writer receives the National Award of the Republic of Belarus for his two children’s books.

The exposition presents the many-sided creativity of Eduard Skobelev as a prose writer, children’s writer, poet, dramatist and journalist.

The exhibition will be interesting to all users of the Library.
