The photo exhibition “Minsk from up above”, dedicated to the City Day, was opened in the National Library of Belarus on August 30.

It’s possible to enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Minsk – Nezavisimosti avenue, the House of charity, park, from the 22nd floor of the Library. And now every visitor of the closed observation platform can rise higher, look beyond the horizon and fall in love with Minsk from a bird’s eye view.

The photo project “Minsk from up above” presents photos, where capital’s roads intertwine into symbolic patterns, and the city is in the sunlight or quietly sleeps, covered in the night lights. Young photographers Dmitri Vazhnik, Artem Pryadko and Viacheslav Mazay have been creating their atmosphere masterpieces during the year at different times and weather conditions with the help of the drone − a small radioguided flying vehicle. Rising up to the sky, it lets the photographer fly above the Minsk gates and feel the capital’s breath. The works of talented masters of the aerial photography are on top and are the Internet hits, and have thousands of views. By the way, Viacheslav Mazay’s photo took the first place on the National Geographic web site.

The first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Alena Dalgapolava highlighted the young authors’ professionalism and ensured that the exposition would be extremely successful. As every citizen has his and her own favourite places in Minsk, but not everyone has an opportunity to look at the city from such perspective.

The photographers Dmitri Vazhnik and Viacheslav Mazay thanked employees of the National Library, who initiated and organized the exhibition, and all the present. “When we prepared to the exhibition, we often heard: “Why do you do this?” – Dmitri said. The answer appeared during the opening ceremony: it’s a priceless experience, a wonderful time with people, who have common ideas, and it’s an opportunity of a meeting, which gathered so many lovers of the native capital at one place. Photos of young artists impressed the photoartist, member of the Belarusian nongovernmental organization “Photoart” Mikhail Garus.

Guys found their insight and nonstandard decisions, revealing Minsk in such a manner, how we like it. Here is the summer 2016 with yellow donuts of the aqua park, a flaring sunset above the Komsomolskoye Lake, and the fantastic Nemiga River at night. But it’s much better to look at it!

The exposition is in the gallery “Panorama” on the 22nd floor of the Library.

Since August 31, 2016 it’s necessary to pay an entrance fee, which is equal to the price of a visit to the Observation platform.
