"Palette of Spring" is a traditional greeting exhibition of the National Library, dedicated to Women's Day (8 March) and designed to remind about the imminent awakening of nature.

This year's spring palette features works by Svetlana Katkova (1941–2020), a laureate of the State Prize of Belarus, and Zoia Lutsevich (born 1970), a graduate of the A.K. Glebov Minsk state art school and the Dusseldorf academy of arts. Special Belarusian artists, mother and daughter, represent two views on creativity, two schools of Belarusian art, one extremely creative family.

Svetlana Katkova and Zoia Lutsevich are artists who are not part of the first generation, but rather are part of a great dynasty. The famous teacher Sergey Katkov, who was at the origins of modern fine art, is Svetlana's father and Zoia's grandfather. The visual studio's instructor, Sergey Katkov, is responsible for producing some of the most well-known Belarusian artists. Svetlana studied with some of them, knew many of them, and was friends with many of them.

Works by Zoia Lutsevich, a bright representative of modern Belarusian painting, open the exhibition. She is widely known to the Belarusian and international public as the author of conceptual art projects filled with innovation and depth of individual style. Each of her pieces on display at the exhibition has a variety of emotive, technical, and artistic elements. Zoia’s themes even in the space of flower arrangements are life, time, relationships, death. Dark colors and fluorescent paints – the author uses unexpected means of expression. Zoia’s works meet and impress the viewer with an abundance of colors, harmony, expressiveness and elegance of techniques and combinations, power and sharpness.

Paintings by Svetlana Katkova, continuing the exhibition, surprise the visitor with surprise and avant–garde. The author's skill was born in the mainstream of Soviet art, but it always had a unique and original character and had a significant impact on the formation of the Belarusian art school. There is a sense of decorativeness in the paintings. Flower arrangements impress with a bold combination of colors, sunlight, fresh, clear colors, imagination regarding forms. The author seems to joke with the audience, easily and talented, shares with them his mood and skill, spontaneity and sincerity. Svetlana's works are characterized by poetry and musicality, reverence of the author's thought, depth of artistic expression.

The artists' works resemble a symphony of light and color, filled with subtle feminine philosophy and lyricism, a sense of life and optimism. Bright, light, life-affirming, thoughtful, nostalgic, philosophical compositions shine in the gallery, each with its own light, calling spring and announcing its imminent arrival.
