The opening of the exhibition "That 1,000th Anniversary Present" will take place at the Book Museum on December 14 at 4pm.

For the first time in Minsk, the general public will have a unique chance to see a copy of a landmark book of Belarusian culture – the Brest (Radziwill) Bible, the most beautiful, expensive and large-scale Belarusian publication of the 16th–19th centuries.

It was published in 1563 by the Brest print shop of Mikalaj Radziwill Chorny, and went on to achieve international fame and recognition as a true masterpiece of the Renaissance. In 2019, Brest bible was presented to the 1,000th anniversary of Brest.

A valuable facsimile edition of the Brest Bible, published to mark the city's 1,000th anniversary, will be on display along with the special book from Brest. Representatives of the National Library of Belarus and the Segment Publishing House worked on the facsimile. The size, look, handwritten notes, inscriptions and other features of the original have been accurately recreated, and the special binding has been handmade using ancient techniques. The copy is complemented by Mr Alies Susha's culturological study "Understanding the Masterpiece".

The exhibition will be on show at the Book Museum (room 347) until December 21, 2021.
The end date is subject to change.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the opening hours of the Book Museum.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
