The exhibition of photography “Dalyaglyad” is to be open in the library on July 26th

The exposition is dedicated to the centennial of one of the greenest countries in the world, Latvia, as well as the hundredth anniversary of its main book depository, the Latvian National Library.

Latvian landscapes are famous for beautiful, both natural and manmade sceneries (Belarusian dalyaglyad). Hence is the name of the exhibition.

The pictures of Latvian landscapes will introduce viewers to the treasures of Latvia, inviting to enjoy the country's beauty. The photography will be supplemented with information materials.

The exposition also includes a reading display and the images of architectural and historical monuments of Latvia from the collections of the Latvian National Library.

The exhibition runs in the gallery “Labyrunth” (3rd floor) until September 20, 2019.
The ending date may be changed.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by library card or by ticket of the library's social and cultural center. Information and tickets may be obtained at the registration desk.

Exhibition Dedicated to Ales Staver


From August 9 to October 14 the exhibition dedicated to the 90th birthday of the Belarusian poet, prose writer and playwright Ales Staver (1929–1995) is held in the Belarusian Literature reading room (205).

Minsk, the Capital of My Country


The city of Minsk was first mentioned in The Tale of Bygone Years, relating to the events of 1067. By decree of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Alexander, on March 14, 1499 Minsk, like other big cities, received the Magdeburg Law, and on January 12, 1591 the city was granted its own coat of arms: the image of Our Lady on a blue background between two angels and cherubs.

War and Law


From August 1 to September 11, the thematic book exhibition “War and Law”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, is opened in the Documents of International Organizations room (207g).

Vyacheslav Chernatov: the 80th Birth Anniversary


An illustrative book exhibition, timed to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Belarusian architect Vyacheslav Chernatov (1939–2016), runs in the fine arts reading room (306), from 2 to 31 August.

Stop the Modern Slavery


From July 24 to August 31 a thematic book exhibition “Stop the Modern Slavery”, dedicated to the World Day against Trafficking in Persons was opened in the Official Documents Department (207).
