A reading display timed to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Bulakhov (1919–2012) runs in the Belarusian literature room (205), from July 19 to September 5.
The prominent Belarusian linguist, PhD, Professor, Doctor of Philology, Honored Worker of Science of Belarus, Mikhail Bulakhov, devoted sixty years of his life to science and education. The scientist investigated the problems of the modern Belarusian language, the history of the Belarusian language and its interaction with other Slavic languages. He is the author of fundamental scientific works that brought him worldwide fame.
The scientific heritage of Mikhail Bulakhov is on display: monographs, dictionaries, fundamental scholarly works etc. A separate exhibition section is focused on the Tale of Igor's Campaign, the epic poem written in the Old East Slavic language. The scholar was particularly interested in this theme and studied it a lot.
The reading display also presents books and manuals in the Belarusian and Russian languages for students in higher education, written by Mikhail Bulakhov personally or in collaboration with other linguists.
Separate sections introduce the scientist as an editor in chief and member of the scientific editorial board and acquaint with his life and work.
The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
