The Way to the Constitution exhibition will open in the library, on 13 March. All the constitutional acts in the history of our people over the past 500 years will be on display.
The Belarusians is a nation with an old constitutional tradition. This year marks the 490th anniversary of the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Belarus, and the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.
The Way to the Constitution exhibition reflects the basic steps that our country made in the development and formation of the basic law.
The exhibition includes unique manuscripts, early printed editions and publications of the 19th –21st centuries. A significant part of the exhibition is devoted to the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The originals and facsimiles of the Statutes of 1529, 1566 and 1588 are presented.
The exhibition presents the first European Constitution of the Commonwealth adopted on May 3, 1791, the first Soviet Constitution of the SSRB adopted in 1919, the BSSR Constitution of 1927 in four languages, and also other constitutions of the Soviet period. The place of honor is given to the Constitution of independent Belarus, adopted in 1994.
The Way to the Constitution exhibition will open on March 13, 16.00 in the Book Museum (347) and will run until April 14, 2019.
