The Way to the Constitution exhibition officially opened in the library, on 13 March.
The event is timed to the 490th anniversary of the First Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Belarus, and the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.
The grand opening was attended by director of the National library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, director of the National Center for Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus Vadim Ipatov, director of the National Center of Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus Evgeny Kovalenko and others.
The exhibition presents all the constitutional acts in the history of our people over the past 500 years: unique manuscripts, early printed editions and publications of the 19th–21st centuries. A significant part of the exposition is devoted to the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The originals and facsimiles of the Statutes of 1529, 1566 and 1588 are presented. The place of honor is given to the Constitution of the independent Belarus, adopted in 1994.
The exhibition runs in the Book Museum (347) until April 14, 2019.
The closing date may be changed.
