"The Belarusian Middle Ages of Pavel Loyka”, an exhibition timed to the 60th anniversary of historian Pavel Loyka, runs in the Belarusian literature reading room (205), from July 10 to September 2.

Pavel Loyka (1958–2010) is an outstanding Belarusian historian, PhD, explorer of Belarusian history of the 16th and 17th centuries. His father, Oleg Loyka, is a known Belarusian writer. Pavel Loyka worked as a junior researcher, researcher and head of the Department of the History of Belarus of the 13th – 18th Centuries at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. In 1994, he became the first director of the Department of the History of Belarusian Antiquity and Middle Ages, holding this post until 2006.

Pavel Loyka left a significant historical legacy. He studied the system of government and political order of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, social relationships in the Belarusian lands during a feudalism epoch, and agrarian history of medieval peasantry of Belarus. He is the author of monographs and co-author of fundamental academic works on the history of Belarus. The scientist is also the author of about 250 scientific papers, numerous encyclopedic articles and first manuals on the history of Belarus, published after the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Belarus.

The exhibition presents the scientific works of Pavel Loyka, which were issued separately and published in collections and periodicals. Manuals and teaching aids on Belarusian history, written and compiled by Pavel Loyka, are also on display.

The exposition also includes publications about the historian’s life and career, memoirs of his colleagues, as well as articles by known Belarusian scientists dedicated to Pavel Loyka.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the opening hours of the library.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.

“Love Is a Source of Inspiration”, a  book-illustrative exhibition timed to Valentine’s Day, runs the fine arts room (306), from February 14 to March 9.

Twelve female images, respecting the months of the calendar year, are on display. The exhibition’s centerpiece is nymphs of trees, beautiful patroness of forests, mythical creatures, who can predict the future and even help in trouble. Dryads are trying to talk but cannot speak the human language. They have you, until you are delighted.

Service to the Native Land: New Exhibition at the Library


The opening of the art exhibition "Service to the Native Land", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders will be held on February 7, 2019 at 4 p.m. in the gallery "Rakurs" (2nd floor).
