The Sporty Belarus exhibition project was presented in the National Library of Belarus on April 30.
The organizers are the National Library of Belarus, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, speaking at the presentation ceremony, stressed that the “diamond of knowledge” was not only a book depository, but also one of the most recognizable tourist centers in the country. Since the beginning of the year, the country’s main library has been preparing to host foreign guests who will attend the international competitions. The Sporty Belarus exhibition project was included in the Cultural Program of the Second European Games.
Georgi Katulin, the director of the Fund of the Second European Games and general secretary of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Vyacheslav Durnov, the First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, and Sergey Shavruk, the first vice-rector of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture, arrived to cut the red ribbon and deliver a welcoming speech.
The event was attended by Andrei Grinevich, the master of sports in karate, eight-time champion of the Republic of Belarus, prize-winner of youth world and European championships and one of the national team’s leaders.
The exhibition presents souvenirs with the symbols of all-union and republican sports competitions, Soviet sports and athletics competitions, world and European championships, cups, medals, diplomas, and also the equipment of well-known Belarusian athletes Alexandra Gerasimenya, Viktor Ugryumov, Natalia Tsilinskaya, Andrei Kravchenko, Dmitry Dashchinsky, Vladimir Kaminsky and Alexey Grishin.
The Extra Time retrospective photo exhibition presents rare and little-known photographs of Belarusian athletes. The photos are supplemented with the paintings by Belarusian artists and sports posters from the collections of the National Library.
The personal photo exhibition of Viktor Suglob introduces visitors to original pictures, dedicated to Belarusian sports.
The Bright Victories, Bright Summer! book exhibition presents the basic rules, history and development of the fifteen sports included in the program of the Second European Games, as well as their information display in the collections of the National Library.
The exhibition is located in the atrium, 2nd floor, and will run until December 31, 2019.
The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
