The preservation of the memory of the Great Patriotic War, the heroism and courage of the defenders of the Motherland, and the selfless labor of the workers in rear area is among the major goals of modern Belarus.

On July 1, director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky and his family took part in a flower laying ceremony at the Victory Monument in Minsk. The event was part of the national campaign “Belarus Remembers,” which officially started on May 9 and will last until the Independence Day of Belarus.

On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, children and adults all over the country bring flowers to the monuments, obelisks and mass graves where war heroes are buried. They also show the portraits of their family members, who were participants in the Great Patriotic War, post in social media, with a symbolic hashtag #Беларусьпомнит (“Belarus remembers”), archival photos and memoirs of veterans, and all together create the national panel and memory album entitled “Belarus Remembers.” Representatives of enterprises and organizations, public figures and common citizens have joined the campaign.
