On 12 January, Kupalinka Folklore Group, led by the People's Artist of Belarus Aliena Cialkova, performed a Christmas programme for the staff of the National Library.
Traditionally, people would sing carols on Christmas Day. The carollers were seen as God's messengers, bringing good news of the birth of Christ, renewal of the world, wealth and prosperity in the new year.
The Christmas carolers performed wonderful Belarusian songs about Christmas: chants, arrangements of folk songs and original songs.
The Kupalinka folklore group's performances left no one indifferent: they set a good mood, boosted energy and, of course, recalled the folk traditions of the Belarusians.
Happy Holidays to the staff and users of the Library! We wish everyone good health, inspiration and harmony!
