The Library hosted an educational event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the bibliographic bulletin "New Books: Through the Pages of the Belarusian Press" and presented a new edition "Belarus Through the Eyes of a Bibliographer" on December 23.

"New Books: Through the Pages of the Belarusian Press" is the oldest periodical of the Library, monthly sharing the novelties of the national book publishing and the events of historical and cultural life. Today, the bulletin is a good advisor and assistant for different categories of users. It contains interesting columns, combines bibliographic information with a variety of analytical materials and is a useful source for Belarusian studies.

Ms Irina Gryadovkina, Head of the Bibliology Research Department, talked about the history and modern days of the periodical and about the people who created this kind of bibliographic chronicle of the country.

Ms Elena Ivanova, Director of the National Book Chamber of Belarus congratulated the librarians on the memorable date. On behalf of the institution, a partner of the bibliographic bulletin team, a plaque with gratitude for many years of fruitful cooperation in the field of national bibliography was presented to the Library.

Ms Valentina Saitova, Professor in the Department of Library and Information Activities at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, shared her thoughts on the publication and its significance for training future bibliographers.

Ms Natalia Barsukova, Chief Bibliographer of the Bibliology Research Department, made a presentation of the book "Belarus Through the Eyes of a Bibliographer" based on Belarusian studies materials published on the pages of the bulletin.

Ms Tatiana Kuzminich, Deputy Director General – Director of Information Resources, made a final speech and presented the first copies of the edition "Belarus Through the Eyes of a Bibliographer to the guest of the National Library of Belarus.

Congratulations and video messages on the anniversary of the "New Books" were made at the event. Exhibitions dedicated to the editions of "Belarus Through the Eyes of a Bibliographer" and "New Books: Through the Pages of the Belarusian Press" have been prepared for the event.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
