Other news

A seminar-consultation «Open access resources in the context of the new redaction of the Law “On copyright and allied rights”» initiated by the Council of Belarusian Libraries on Information Cooperation was held on 24 May.

It was noted that, within the framework of adopted changes in the new redaction of the Law, fundamentally new methods of development of corporate electronic information resources had appeared. Participants of the meeting considered the NLB’s draft copyright treaty on transfer of non-exclusive right to gratuitous use of author’s works.

Different algorithms of cooperation for optimization and corporate selling of the currently developed electronic resource of national dissertations were discussed. A particular attention was paid to contractual work with authors in the development of the resource.

Mr. V.I. Brichkovsky, National Coordinator of the Republic of Belarus at the international consortium ЕIFL, delivered a report “Development of open access resources in the Republic of Belarus”.

It was noted that the corporate resource of dissertations is one of the important components of open access scientific and educational resources in the Republic of Belarus.

Participants of the event exchanged their views on possible ways of corporate interaction between Belarusian university libraries.
