The National Library of Belarus has published the guidelines for determination of the readers' demand for the publications of modern Belarusian authors.

Special attention is paid in the Republic of Belarus at the state level to supporting and promoting the best examples of Belarusian literature.

Bringing new names into the reading community is an integral mission of the librarian. A study on readers' demand is carried out in order to control the productivity of the librarians’ work in popularizing the creative work of modern Belarusian authors, to assess the degree of the readers' interest in the works of modern Belarusian literature.

In order to do this work systematically, librarians need to clearly understand the term "modern Belarusian author", the basic methods of studying the readers' demand.

This manual provides step-by-step instructions for conducting such a study using various methods: questionnaire survey, document analysis, analysis of book assignments, analysis of search queries on the Internet. The necessary tools are attached to each of the proposed methods. As a bonus to the publication there is a list of modern Belarusian authors, containing more than 1,200 names.

The manual is addressed to library specialists, teachers, students, undergraduates, graduate students, as well as anyone interested in research conducting.

The publication can be bought by subscription or in a kiosk located on the 1st floor near the main entrance to the library.

For purchase by subscription, please call (+375 17) 293 28 22; 293 28 13 or e-mail: edit@nlb.by.
