Classes “Francysk Skaryna”, devoted to the first printer’s life and work, were conducted for children and their parents in March as part of the Book Museum project “Book Professors’ Club”.

Francysk Skaryna is one of the brightest and most famous representatives of Belarusian culture. He was the first of the Eastern Slavs to print the book, opening a new era in the cultural development of our people.

Skaryna's talent was multifaceted: the Belarusian and East Slavic printer, translator, writer, philosopher, doctor... Having acquired fundamental knowledge, he went through a path of moral and intellectual self-improvement.

The participants tracked the path of Skaryna on the map, "visiting" Polotsk, where the educator was born and got an elementary education, "studying" in Vilna, Krakow and Padua, "printing books" in Prague and Vilna.

In class the children used the books of the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna. They read excerpts from the forewords and afterwords and examined engravings to sensibly memorize the facts.

Creative tasks allowed the children to show their individual abilities, consolidate theoretical knowledge and look creatively at the object of cognition
