On 4 October, at 4 p.m., a grand opening of the exhibition “Francysk Skaryna: a journey to the Fatherland” will be held at the National Library of Belarus.
The event will be carried out within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Belarus.
A convolute from the funds of the Upper Lusatian Library of Sciences which contains 11 books created by Francysk Skaryna will be on display for the first time.
The exposition will exhibit the books of Francysk Skaryna from the Upper Lusatian Library of Sciences (Görlitz, Germany), including ones which can’t be find in the collections of Belarus, for example, The Book of Genesis with a beautifully engraved title page, as well as four copies of The Books of Samuel contain a famous portrait of the Belarusian first publisher and others.
The exhibition of Skorina’s first editions will work in the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus from 4 to 13 October 2012.
