On 17 October, at the National Library of Belarus the company Ex Libris presentated solutions and products of modern computer-aided systems for libraries and electronic libraries as their essential part.


Directors of the largest university libraries, representatives of the National Book Chamber, ministries and departments, workers of the National Library of Belarus and other people saw presentations on the activities and the latest developments of the company which is considered a leading organization in providing libraries from 80 countries.

Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky opened the event. Addressing to participants and guest, he noted the need to solve problems of libraries using the most effective search technologies. In his speech to the audience Enrique Pench, a senior manager for Eastern Europe and the CIS countries, said that the company Ex Libris is interested in cooperation with the National Library of Belarus.

There was the presentation of the compony Ex Libris and its new developments – Primo Central and Rosetta. It was presented by representative of the company Ex Libris in Ukraine Sergey Dotsenko.

The presentation ended withthe discussion in which all the participants were able to get answers to their relevant questions.

Founder of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Belarus

June 21 marks the 280th anniversary of the birth of the famous French scientist-encyclopaedist, doctor of medicine, professor Jean Emmanuel Gilibert (1741-1814), who is rightfully considered the founder of pharmaceutical sciences in Belarus. He created and for several years headed the first higher medical institution in the territory of modern Belarus – the Hrodna Medical Academy.
