On May 12th, results of the XXIIІ Republican contest “The library as a core of national culture” were summed up at the National Library of Belarus.
The contest is held annually among public libraries of Belarus with the purpose of increasing the role of libraries in the formation of national consciousness, promotion of national culture, history, literature, language, national crafts, and also support and developments of reading.
The contest is held in two rounds (regional and republican) in four nominations: “For prospecting and research work”, “For a significant contribution to educational work with a rising generation”, “For the support and development of reading”, “For innovations in the sphere of librarianship”. In 2015, 42 public libraries from all regions of our country and Minsk participated in the republican round of the competition.
The jury noted a high quality of presented works, the variety of ideas, and a creative approach of participants.
According to the competition results, an order of the Minister of Culture of Belarus will be published. Winners of the competition’s republican round will get diplomas of the first, second, third degree and monetary prizes.
