The round table titled Literary and artistic publication in cultural frames took place on December 22th at 15 o'clock at the National Library of Belarus.


It’s almost a century that the Polymya magazine warms the hearts of lovers of Belarusian and world literature. This year it celebrates its 95th anniversary.

The belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas directly participated in the creation of the oldest Belarusian literary and art publication. In general, the history of the magazine forms the history of Belarusian literature and its best representative. The Belarusian writers such as Tishka Gartny, Ivan Melezh, Arkady Kuleshov, Maxim Tank, Kondrat Krapiva, Vasil Bykov, Ivan Shamyakin, Ivan Naumenko Rygor Borodulin, Vladimir Korotkevitch and other masters of the Belarusian language published their works on the magazine pages.

In the Polymya magazine readers saw first the novels People of the Marsh by Ivan Melezh, Birds and nest by Yanka Bryl, The Heart On The Open Palm by Ivan Shamyakin, and many other works, has long become Belarusian classical literature. In nowadays the Polymya magazine reflects the contemporary literary processes in Belarus, makes the best translations of foreign literature from Russian, German, Ecuadorian, Kazakh, Serbian and others.

The event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, the Zvezda publishing house, as well as leading Belarusian scientists, poets and prose writers.

The meeting began with congratulations addressed to the editorial office of the Polymya magazine from the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and the welcome address of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.

The employees of the Polymya magazine received commendation from the Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus and certificates of honor for conscientious productive work on the implementation of the state information policy, significant contribution to the development and promotion of Belarusian literature.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
