On 14 November, the final stage of the republican action "The Good Book" took place at the National Library of Belarus within the framework of the event "The man with a white cane" which had been lasting for a month.


The event was organized on the initiative of the public association "Belarusian Society of the Visually Impaired", together with the National Library of Belarus under the auspices of the Ministry of Education in the Year of Book.

In manual trainings children from schools of our country under the direction of teachers made with their own hands "tactile" books for visually impaired children. In a solemn ceremony they gave their handmade works for students of special schools for children with visual impairment. Children enjoyed an excursion over the Library and a concert of children’s amateur teams.

At the event the speakers were Minister of Education Sergei Maskevich; director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky; chairman of the Belarusian Association of visually impaired people, chairman of the Paralympics Committee of Belarus Oleg Shepel; teacher luxury Shklovskaya State Special Boarding School for children with visual impairment Gulnara Mironova.

The action "The Good Book" was held to raise public awareness, including primary school children, to the problems of peers who are visually impaired.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
