The National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the 27th International Cyril and Methodius Readings "The Spiritual Role of the Service of the Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky in the Context of History" on May 18 timed to coincide with the 800th anniversary of the saint.

Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslaujie Venijamin, Patriarch Exarch of all Belarus opened the plenary session with a welcome speech. Representatives of the scientific and cultural community, heads of educational institutions, teachers, graduate students and students of state and church educational institutions, representatives of the clergy attended the readings.

Historical memory and spiritual culture related to the personality of Alexander Nevsky, Christian values in the education system, current issues of the history of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, problems of religious studies in the 21st century and other important issues were discussed at the scientific and practical forum. Specifically for the 27th Cyril and Methodius Readings, the Library has prepared an exhibition, which presents the results of projects on facsimile reproduction of the most valuable handwritten monuments of our country. Among them is the facsimile of the Turau Gospel of the 11th century (2014), Polack Gospel of the 2nd half of the 12th century (2012), the Sluck Gospel of 1582 (2009) and the 16th-century Gospel of Zhyrovichy. (2020).

Events and sectional sessions of the 27th Cyril and Methodius Readings are held at various venues in a remote format. The publication of the collection of materials is planned based on the results of the conference.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
