A photo exhibition "The Images of America” opened on 10 March at the art galley Panorama.
The exposition includes 40 reproductions of the most important works of American art (paintings, sculpture, arts and crafts, photography and architecture). The selected exhibits reveal the artistic heritage of the United States and depict the original temper, ideals and aspirations of America. The exhibition "The Images of America” uses the art as a special instrument to study American reality – its social, political and historical aspects intertwined in a multiform cultural image of the USA.
The project is a joint initiative of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship.
Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, the U.S. Charge D’Affaires in Belarus Michael Scanlan and Head of the Gallery and Exhiibtion Division of the National Library of Belarus Fyodor Yastreb took part in the event.
The exhibition runs at the art gallery Panorama (the indoor observation platform on the 22nd floor) until 28 March 2011. The exhibition entrance fee is equal to that of thethe Observation Platform of the National Library of Belarus.
