Where does Chinese art end and the Belarusian begin? It was not easy to answer this question.

The solemn opening ceremony of the "Traditions to Meet" exposition was attended by Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, First Secretary of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Hongwei, Director of the BSU Republican Institute of Sinology named after Confucius Anatoly Tozik, Deputy Director General of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Ji Wei, Chairman of the Belarusian folk artists Union Yevgeny Sahuta.

Visitors will be surprised by the similarity of the Belarusian vytynanka and Chinese paper cut. At the exhibition, everyone will have the opportunity to compare other traditions in the art of the two countries. Mythical creatures, plants, animals are reflected in the works of masters.

The guests could take part in workshops. They have learned the Chinese paper cutting and traditional lanterns making, as well as the process of creating the Belarusian vytynanka.

The project was prepared by the National Library of Belarus and the Department for the Exchange of Cultural Relations of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
