On June 1, 2009, in the gallery “Panorama” of National Library of Belarus was open an exhibition “Ray of Sun” timed to the International Children Protection Day.
The photo exhibition “Ray of Sun” is a joint project of Belarusian artists and photographers who prepared a series of photos taken in Minsk children’s homes. The exposition totals over 50 works by Belarusian photographers Vitaly Brussinsky, Sergey Kozhemyakin and Victor Suglob and press photographers Pavel Patashnikov and Yuri Kulikov.
The art project intends to remind people about the issues of orphans and neglected children living in children’s homes. Deprived of parental care, they need our support and protection.
Inmates of children’s homes and shelters and families having many children were invited to the art project opening.
The guests enjoyed children’s songs, pantomimes and musical performances, saw peculiar paintings made of sand by Alla Razumova, and tasted sweets. Deputy Director of National Library of Belarus Lyudmila Kuryukhina, curators of the art project Fyodor Yastreb and Julia Edka, and Maxim Dubovik, representative of “Life:)” company sponsoring the project expressed their warm wishes to the children.
The exhibition is open till July 9, 2009.
