On December 19, 2008, in the National Library of Belarus took place the opening of an exhibition of miniatures of Iranian artist Mahmoud Farshchian and a concert of Iranian folk music. The event was organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus.
The exhibition presents about 60 works by the artist. Themes and genres of the modern Iranian miniature reflect national spiritual and aesthetical values and religion of Iranian people. Iranian miniature is inspired, first of all, by classical Persian poetry glorifying the heroic past and significant historical events. There are as well portraits performed in Isfahan or Kadzhar style; poetical fantasies; icons of saints and prophets; eternal themes of Love, Good and Evil, Life and Death. In the framework of the event took place a concert of Iranian folk music.
Seyyed Abdollah Hosseini, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus, Massud Hagani, the Deputy Head of the Mission,councilor for political issuesof the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Shofei, councilor for culture of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and representatives of Iranian Diaspora in the Republic of Belarus participated in the event.
The exposition is located in the gallery “Panorama” (the 22d floor). The exhibition works according to the observation platform’s hours of operation. The cost of a ticket (3 500 BYR) includes the observation platform tour.
The exhibition is open until January 23, 2009.
