Stanislaw Moniuszko

The history of Slavic music remembers many famous people, who made a significant contribution to the development of the world musical culture. One of them is Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), a composer, conductor and teacher, whose life and destiny are inextricably tied to the land of Belarus. May 5, 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of our countryman. This is a big day for both the world and Belarus. Stanislaw Moniuszko is a central figure in the Belarusian music of the Romantic era, and his bright composing talent was formed on Belarusian soil. Moniuszko’s oeuvre is still relevant today: the composer’s creativity and legacy attract modern music experts and performers; his music is played, listened to and examined; the 19th century music is studied through his works, which means that this iconic person is today highly appreciated as an integral part of national culture.
