On April 5, the third exhibition from the cycle "Dawn of Liberation is breaking over Belarus" opened in the ring gallery of the 3rd floor.
The cycle of educational and patriotic exhibitions, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, refers to the chronicle of events and to perpetuate the memory of the participating heroes.
The third exposition presents a chronicle from the end of March to May 1944 – "Zditovskaya defense", "Battle of Polotsk-Lepel" and other partisan operations, as well as the spring sowing of 1944.
The exhibition was prepared jointly with the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition shows copies of combat reports of the 208th Red Partisan regiment named after Iosif Stalin and the partisan detachment named after the 25th anniversary of the Komsomol of the G.K. Zhukov partisan brigade for the period April-May 1944.
The book and documentary series reflects the feat of the Belarusian partisans who liberated the Belarusian land in close cooperation with the advancing units of the Red Army, as eloquently evidenced by the fact that during the period from October 1943 to April 1944, more than 35 partisan brigades and 15 separately operating partisan detachments, totaling more than 50 thousand, joined with units of the Red Army.
Fine publications from the period of the Great Patriotic War from the fund of the National Library of Belarus are of great importance. The exhibition presents copies of individual issues of the newspaper-poster "Crash the fascist serpent" for April and May 1944, a copy of the poster by Viktor Koretsky "Let’s provide the high harvest in 1944! Let's give the front a lot of food!". These exhibits figuratively illustrate the events described above.
We invite you to get acquainted with the exhibition and turn to publications and documents that preserve and perpetuate the memory of heroic times, about the participants in the liberation of Belarus.
