In any modern democratic state, elections are the most important form of sovereign democracy, regulated by normative legal acts that collectively constitute electoral legislation. These are acts of the national legal system, as well as international law. Democratic elections presuppose the personal freedom of citizens guaranteed by the state, the right to freely express their beliefs, freedom of association, demonstrations, movement, the right to receive reliable information, etc. The participation of every citizen in the governance of his country is one of the key factors for the effective exercise of other rights and fundamental freedoms of citizens, including political, socio-economic and cultural ones.
The exhibition exhibits about 70 documents in Russian and Belarusian. Among the documents presented are normative legal acts, comments, monographs, collections of articles and abstracts, materials of reports and scientific and practical conferences, analytical reviews, seminars and round tables.
The exhibition will be useful to all participants in the electoral process, election organizers, political scientists, researchers, students, teachers and anyone interested in issues of national electoral law and the conduct of free and democratic elections.
The exhibition includes the following thematic sections:
- The Constitution as the basis of the electoral law of the Republic of Belarus
- Elections: legal framework and electoral technologies
- The electoral process of Belarus: stages of development and modernity
- Violations of the norms of electoral law: responsibility and legal protection
The material was provided by the Service Department with Official Documents.
