The Belarusian Literature Reading Room (No 205) hosts the anniversary exhibition "Poet of the Country of Childhood", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Belarusian children's poet and writer, Honored Worker of Culture of Belarus, excellent student of public education, excellent student of the press of Belarus Nikolai Cherniavski, from January 12 to February 15.

Nikolai Nikolaevich Cherniavski is a laureate of the Yanka Mavr Literary Awards (1995), Vasil Vitka (2002), “Zolotoj Kupidon” (2010), and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Award (2001). Awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal and the badge of the Belarus’ Writers Union “For a great contribution to literature”.

Nikolai Cherniavski addressed the children's audience at the beginning of his journalistic career and remains loyal to it to this day. He worked in the editorial offices of periodicals for children – newspaper "Pijaner Belarusi", magazines "Biarozka" and "Viasiolka".

Over 60 years of his work as a writer, more than a dozen books have been published, including more than 30 for children. On their pages – a scattering of fun, fascinating and informative verses, poems, fairy tales, charades, tongue twisters, riddles, rhymes, cradle songs – almost the entire genre arsenal of children's poetry. The writer's works awaken children's compassion, honesty, kindness, love for their native land, and contribute to the formation of aesthetic taste. Nikolai Cherniavski addressed a number of prose works to teenagers –novellas and stories, to adults – books of humor and satire, essays. They delight with the fantastic, sincere, wonderful sound of the Belarusian word.

The anniversary exhibition features books by Nikolai Cherniavski for children and teenagers "Z dumkaj pra Belarus, albo jost dziva, advechnae dziva", "Na kago svarywsia grom", " Hto pakrywdziy krakadzila?", "Zagadkavyia slovy belarusskaj movy", "Dze leta kanchaetsa", "Bossaja kavaleryja", "Zhyw na svete dzidzka tydzen…” etc., collective collections that include his works: "Ya ziamliu belarusskuju liubliu", "Ja pomniu vsio", "Zalatsinki" etc. There are also books of poetry, satire and humor for adults – "Na ploshchy pamiati maioj", "Dazhinki", "Harem na balcone", "Pryzba, albo smiajatsa – ne plakat", literary portraits "Na proze dabryni I boliu", essay and memoir "Svaja jost pesnia ...", magazines with publications of the writer, publications with his prefaces, works in his literary processing, materials about his creative work and biographical information.
