The republican exhibition of book graphics of Belarus “ILLUSTRATIO. Variety of illustration techniques” will start on February 16 at 5 pm in the Atrium (2nd floor).
The exposition presents facsimile editions of the Belarusian pioneer printer Francysk Skaryna, "Mango" by Katsushik Hakusai, rare editions of French poetry, chromolithography of European fashion of the late 19th century and others. On the example of these outstanding book monuments, one can trace how the approach and the technical component in the design of the book changed.
The exhibition features graphics of Belarusian artists: etchings, lithographs, linarite, woodworm, watercolours and sheets with images made in other techniques. Also on display are the book graphics of students and graduates of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts.
An etching machine, paints, scrapers, brushes, graders, cutters, lithographic stone and other materials, as well as educational videos on creating illustrations in various techniques, will help to present the features of the artist's work during the process of creating an illustration.
Belarusian graphic artists Vera Kovzanovich, Maria Dorozhko, Andrei Basalyga prepared video masterclasses especially for the visitors of the project.
In addition to illustrative examples of book graphics, the exposition includes scientific, popular science, and educational publications dedicated to illustration techniques.
The entrance to the opening day is free, the rest of the time - with a library card or a ticket for a socio-cultural centre.
The project will run until August 9, 2021.
The end date of the exhibition can be changed.
