The National Library of Belarus will host an event dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the birth of Yan Skrygan (1905-1992) on November 12, the Belarusian writer, the member of the literary association "Maladnyak".

At the literary evening, you can learn a lot of interesting things about the life and work of the outstanding Belarusian writer, poet and critic, the creator of the Belarusian essay as a new literary genre. The event was organized within the framework of the joint project "At the Praise of the Hour, by the Plynі Zhytstsya", implemented by the National Library of Belarus, the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, the publishing house "Zvyazda" (in particular, the magazine "Maladost") and the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art ... By joint efforts of the project participants, a virtual section dedicated to the anniversary of Yan Skrygan was prepared, which will be presented at the event. It contains full texts of the author's books, valuable documents, photographs and archival materials from the funds of the National Library of Belarus, our partners, as well as from the writer's home archive.

Interesting meetings and discoveries await you at the event. The writer's daughter Galina Skrygan will talk about her father, about the preservation of the writer's heritage by his family. In recent years, she has been the compiler of many books published for each anniversary of the writer. This year, at the evening, Galina Ivanovna will present a new edition - an illustrated album "Photoarchive form Yan Skrygan Collections" (2020), published for the 115th anniversary of the writer.

You will hear fascinating stories about the writer from the editor-in-chief of the Knigazbor publishing house and the author of the Belarusian Knigazbor project Kastus Tsvirka and a family member of the writer Yevgeny Zhuk, head of the NLB's digitization department. The video will feature a musical dedication to grandfather from Yan Skrygan Jr. - a famous classical guitar performer who has travelled with concerts to many countries and now lives near Freiburg.

We invite you to take part in our event!
