The National Library of Belarus congratulates the residents and the guests of Minsk on the Day of the City and invites to visit a festive book exhibition "Trip across Your Favorite City" from September 6.
For the first time the city of Minsk is mentioned in the "Tale of Bygone Years" in connection with the events of 1067. On March 14, 1499 The Grand Duke of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Alexander handed to the city a grant for self-government according to the Magdeburg Law , and on January 12, 1591, Minsk received its coat of arms: the image of the Virgin between the two angels and cherubs on the blue field.
Today Minsk is the capital of the sovereign Republic of Belarus, a modern European city with developed infrastructure. Minsk is one of the 273 largest cities in the world with a population of about 2 million people and occupies a worthy place among them.
The architectural appearance of the city, formed over the centuries, has preserved the imprint of culture of different styles and ages, peoples and religious faiths.
The festive exhibition "Trip across Your Favorite City" will make you to uncover the unknown pages of the life of Minsk, feel the breath of the past centuries and the rhythm of present days, admire our beautiful capital. The exposition includes about 80 newest publications about the history and current day of the capital, interesting places for visiting and resting of the city.
The exhibition includes colorful albums, popular science and art publications, catalogs, tourist booklets, brochures, pictorial documents with views, historical sights and monuments of Minsk, grouped under the following sections: "Minsk: Here and Now", " Tourist Minsk ", "Places for Family Holidays".
Minsk is a beautiful, interesting, attractive and hospitable city. It is loved and appreciated not only by residents, but also by numerous guests: once they have visited our capital, they return with great joy.
The exhibition "Trip across Your Favorite City" will last until October 8, 2018.
The end date of the exhibition can be changed.
The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
