From March 1 to April 9 in the music and audiovisual documents reading room (room 305) there is an exhibition "Knight of the musical image", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the British composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The history of modern musical theater can not be imagined without this composer. Since the 1970s it was Webber that promoted the revival and establishment of the English and American musical theater on the world stage. He created his own eclectic style with elements of rock. His musicals are bright, spectacular, with catchy melodies and intense action. Combining such dissimilar genres as rock and roll, traditional English music hall and opera, he creates melodic music, easy to perceive. But behind its external simplicity, there is inner complexity, which raises the musical to a different artistic level, gaining popularity among the mass audience and the most sophisticated audience.
The main part of the exposition consists of musical publications: Jesus Christ the Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Andrew Lloyd Webber and his musicals, Webber A. L. Popular melodies, as well as numerous collections in which you can find well-known melodies from musical performances Phantom of the Opera, Evita and many others.
The audio and video documents exposed at the exhibition present the musicals Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar, the dramatic Requiem, popular compositions Do not cry for me Argentina, Memory, Phantom of the Opera and other works of the author.
Books, abstracts and articles from periodicals supplement the exposition with information about the life and creative path of the famous composer.
