On November 29, the library was visited by participants of a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils.
Roman Motulsky, the director of the National Library of Belarus, conducted an introductory excursion for the guests of honor. He shared the history of the “book treasury”, presented the most significant locations in the library and told about the potential of the country’s biggest socio-cultural center.
Following the excursion route, the guests appreciated the architectural features and decoration of the "diamond of knowledge", and also visited the international exhibition “Francysk Skaryna and his epoch”, devoted to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing.
Mr. Motulsky focused attention on the centerpiece of the exhibition – the lifetime editions of the Belarusian printing pioneer. Also the guests found an interest in the facsimile Book Heritage of Francysk Skaryna. The original texts of the renowned printer and humanist, which were once scattered around the world, have been gathered in one multivolume book. Now they are available to the general reader in Belarus and other countries.
