On April 21–23, 2009, Director of National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky participated in the annual International conference “Rumyantsev Lectures-2009”.
The conference “Historic and cultural traditions and innovative changes in Russia. Educational responsibility of libraries” was held in Russian State Library (RSL). In the framework of the event participants discussed the urgent issues of libraries activity.
Participants of the conference got acquainted with the project “Lomonosov Library” which resulted in publication of 38 books (works by M.V. Lomonosov and publications dedicated to the eminent Russian scientist). Part of edition may be handed to the biggest libraries of the CIS.
Director of National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky delivered a paper dedicated to the history of the eminent Belarusian libraries of the XI–XIX-th centuries and showed an electronic presentation of National Library of Belarus. An association agreement between Russian State Library and National Library of Belarus was signed at the meeting with the RSL administration.
In the framework of the conference took place a meeting of presidium of Eurasia Library Assembly (ELA). President of the ELA, Director of National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky, Vice-President of the ELA, Director of the RSL V.V. Fyodorov, Vice-President of the ELA, Director of National Library Kyrgyzstan Zh.K. Bakashova, Director of National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine T.N. Velikzhanina, and head of the RSL interaction with libraries of Russia and member countries of the CIS department G.A. Raykove participated in the meeting. Participants of the meeting examined organizational issues, publishing activities, intergovernmental projects etc.
