On August 10 – 14, 2008, takes place the World Library and Information Congress. In 2008 the 74th General Conference and Council of IFLA take place in Quebec (Canada).
About 4000 participants from different countries are registered, over 200 speeches are scheduled. Roman Motulsky, the Director of National Library of Belarus takes part in the Congress as well as in an annually meeting of the Conference of directors of national libraries.
The subject of the current General Conference – “Libraries without bounds: the movement towards a global mutual understanding”. The program of the event includes opening sessions, subject seminars, poster sessions, meetings on urgent issues, and unofficial meetings”. Besides that, during the conference takes place a specialized exhibition of library materials, audio and video equipment, computer systems, and library equipment.
