From August 1, 2008, to October 15, 2008, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition "Belarusian linguistics and study of literature” (publications of 2005-2008).
We invite to the exhibition everybody who is interested in Belarusian language, studies or teaches Belarusian language and literature at schools and universities, as well as researchers and scientists. Materials displayed at the exhibition reveals the history, the modern state and the issues of Belarusian linguistics and study of literature.
The exhibition presents over 650 materials and includes the following sections: “Belarusian language: preservation, improvement, extension”, “Peculiarities of the modern study of literature”, “Methodology of Belarusian language and literature teaching”, “Dictionaries”.
At the exhibition are displayed textbooks, educational and methodological manuals, numerous scientific monographs, author’s abstracts of dissertation, materials of national and international lectures and conferences, collected literary critic articles, and dictionaries. There are displayed the following series of educational, scientific, and methodological literature: “Educating a Citizen”, “Work Experience”, “Teacher’s Studio”, “For Pupils, School-Leavers, and Students”, “Doing Homework”, “The Journal “Dzejaslou” Library”, and others.
Besides general topic publications at the exhibition are displayed separate scientific materials published in the last years dedicated to the eminent Belarusian linguists: P. Shuba, P. Stsyatsko, S. Nekrashevich, M. Tsikotsky, M. Zhidovich, and others, as well as numerous biographical, literary and critic publications dedicated to life and career of the eminent Belarusian writers: M.Bogdanovich, V. Dubouka, Yakub Kolas, Yanka Kupala, V. Bykov, V. Korotkevich, V.Kolesnik, M. Tank, Y. Yanischits, and others.
In the section “Dictionaries” are displayed various Belarusian dictionaries compiled by scientists in the last years. Among them: “Grammatical Dictionary of Verbs”; N.S. Mazheyko, “Frequency Dictionary of Belarusian Language”; N. Gilevich, “Dialect Dictionary”; A.B.Makarevich, "Dictionary of Archaic Words of Belarusian Language”; S.M. Strukova, “Dictionary of Archaisms”; T.M. Trukhan, F.D. Klimchuk "Flax Treatment Vocabulary: Subject Dictionary, Lexical Atlas”; K.M. Sida “Amusing Phraseological Dictionary”; L. Borschevsky, “EuroDictionary”; “Russian-Belarusian Dictionary of Hand-Language”, and others.
