On April 27th at the gallery “Labyrinth” took place the opening ceremony of the republican exhibition of Soviet posters of 1941–1945 “The Way to the Victory” dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The organizers of the event – the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the National Library of Belarus and the Belarusian State Library of the Great Patriotic War History.
The collection of the National Library of Belarus comprises about 200 posters edited between 1941 and 945. More than 500 posters are stored in the collections of the Belarusian State Library of the Great Patriotic War History.
The exhibition will present 70 original posters dedicated to front-line, rear, occupation and partisan themes; the series of posters “TASS Windows” well-known during the Great Patriotic War, and also the series of posters published at the siege of Leningrad created by famous masters of the Soviet poster, such as L. Golovanov, V. Deny, V. Ivanov, A. Kokorekin, V. Koretsky, Kukryniksy, I. Toidze and others.
Also visitors will see posters by Belarusian artists S. Romanov and M. Gutiev dedicated to rebuilding of destroyed Minsk and Belarusian partisan movement.
Within the framework of the solemn event, the presentation of a multimedia edition of the National Library of Belarus “Let’s greet those great years…” will be held.
The exhibition “The way to the Victory” is open till May 12th.
