The anniversary exhibition "In line with modern times", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Belarusian composer V.A. Voitik, has been opened since 1 to 26 September in the music and audiovisual documents reading room (room 305).
Viktor Antonovich Voitik is a bright and distinctive composer of modern times, author of compositions of different music genres. He wrote the opera Spring Song, oratorio Memory to Khatyn, The Day of the Motherland, works of orchestral and chamber instrumental music.
A particular place in the composer’s creative work belongs to the music for the cymbals (plays Watercolor, Jokes, Caprice, children’s suite Gold Key for the cymbals and the piano, Sonata for two cymbals, Notebook of etudes-pictures, etc.). Viktor Voitik’s music is included in repertories of many republic’s concert bands. It attracts by a diverse combination of tradition and novelty.
The exhibition presents note editions of the author’s works (Suite in the Old Style, Children’s Suite, Suite for the Symphonic Orchestra "Fun"), audiodocuments from the funds of the National Library. Visitors can listen to the composer’s works performed by the State Folk Orchestra of the BSSR n.a. I. Zhinovich (Overture for the Folk Orchestra), the Symphonic Orchestra of the National State TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (Concert for the Cymbals and the Symphonic Orchestra), the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus and other performers.
Publications about the composer’s creative work are also included in the exposition.
