The book exhibition "Toiler of the native language" timed to the 90th anniversary of G.F. Yurchenko is hold in the hall of Belarusian literature (room 205) from January 22 to February 11.
The visitors could learn about the life and creative way of Georgy Yurchenko (1928-2014), the Belarusian writer, critic, linguist - through the materials of the exposition presented in three sections.
The works of Georgy Yurchenko have contributed significantly to the language of Belarusian culture. The main direction of his scientific activity is dialectal vocabulary and phraseology. For many years, the researcher were writing folk proverbs, were collecting the phraseological wealth of the Mstislavshchina region. Many collections of folk vocabulary reflect synonyms, phraseology, derived words, word combinations, truthful expressions and proverbs. His collections and dictionaries on this subject are presented to visitors.
The distinctive ability of G. Yurchenko was manifested in the genre of literary parody. Many books and publications have brought him wide popularity and recognition. His humor is satiric, sincere, benevolent, but sometimes can be prickly and sharp. Poets, prose writers, playwrights, critics are in the writer’s field of view. The visitors of the exhibition will be interested in the collections of parodies and epigrams "Rasprezhany Pegasus" (Unharnessed Pegasus), "Varkhom na vozhyku" (Outside of the Hedgehog), "Nemeladichny melody" (Non-melodic melodies) etc.
At the exposition there are also the popular scientific essays by G. Yurchenko about outstanding scientists born in the region of Mstislavshina, among them the physicist and chemist Pavel Kabeka, astronomer Dmitry Dubyaga and others, as well as critical articles and reviews on works by contemporary Belarusian writers.
