From October 9th, 2009, to November 30th, 2009, in National Library of Belarus (the second floor, circular passage) is open a book exhibition “Culture of Belarus: traditions and perspectives”.
“The strategic purpose of the state policy in the field of culture is development and an effective utilization of cultural potential of the country, maintenance of continuity of development of the Belarusian culture along with support of cultural innovations. As a national resource the culture represents a set of material and cultural wealth, including the national language, historical and cultural heritage, traditions, folklore, national crafts, professional and amateur art, cultural and art education, cultural establishments and workers, international and interstate cultural communications, material and financial maintenance … ", - from the branch program “Preservation and development of culture of Belarus for the period 2006-2010”.
National Library of Belarus offers a subject book exhibition time to the Day of Cultural Workers (on October, 11th). More than 100 documents are displayed at the exposition: reference books and encyclopedic editions, manuals, monographs, collected articles, albums, booklets on history and a modern condition of culture of Belarus. The place of honor is allocated to the multivolume publication by Belarusian scientist Efim Karskogo “The Belarus” which is regarded as “the highest achievement of the European Slavic philology of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries, the encyclopedia of studies on Belarus”.
The exposition includes the following sections:
- “Well-known names”;
- “Town-planning and architecture”;
- “Fine arts and national crafts”;
- “Musical culture of Belarus”;
- “Art of heater”;
- “Keepers of the heritage”.
