On February 24, 2009, in National Library of Belarus was opened a historical art exhibition “Emerik von Gutten-Czapski. Against a background of the epoch”.




The exhibition is organized in cooperation with Priluki Center of People’s Art and dedicated to Emerik von Gutten-Czapski’s anniversary.

Priluki Center of People’s Art presents an anniversary exhibition which includes stands “Priluki through the centuries: the 15th – 21st centuries” and art works, albums, and archival materials from the collections of association “Priluki Heritage”.

National Library of Belarus displays at the exhibition about 30 publications including 7 items from personal collections of Emerik von Gutten-Czapski  and his eminent descendants.

Head of the NLB’s exhibition department Fyodor Yastreb, project coordinator of Polish Institute in Minsk Alexander Gorodetsky, head of cultural department of Minsk region S.S. Kudin, professor, Doctor of biology, laureate of the State Prize “For Spiritual Renaissance”, member of association “Priluki Heritage” A.T.Fedoruk, director of Stankovo secondary school of Dzershinsk district G.A. Yarmola, head of Minsk region people’s association for history and regional studies “Priluki Heritage” I.V. Gatalsky, and head of the NLB’s bibliology department G.V. Kireeva  participated in the event.

The exhibition is open till March 23, 2009.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
