A facsimile of the the Lavrishevo Gospel will be presented and donated to the library at the Book Museum, March 1.

The unique manuscript, belonging to the early history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, is now available to researchers and lovers of Belarusian medieval heritage.

The Lavrishevo Gospel is the 13th – 14th century manuscript, created for the Orthodox Monastery in the village of Lavrishevo, near Novogrudok, as evidenced dedicatory inscriptions. The Gospel is decorated with illuminations and has a binding with precious stones and a shaped metal plate with the image of the holy warrior (perhaps Prince Voishelk).

The facsimile edition appeared in the publishing house "Gorobets", Kiev, Ukraine, at the end of 2018. The Lavrishevo Gospel is a joint historical treasure of the four countries: Belarus, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine, whose traditions are closely tied.

The event starts at 11.00, the Book Museum (3rd floor, room 374).
