The National Library of Belarus congratulates authors and readers on World Book and Copyright Day and World Intellectual Property Day, which are celebrated on April 23 and 26.
On the eve of the holidays, starting in 2007, the National Library of Belarus, together with the National Center of Intellectual Property and the National Center of Legislation and Legal Research of the Republic of Belarus has conducted seminars, round tables and cultural and educational events dedicated to copyright and intellectual property issues. More than 1,000 library experts were able to get professional answers to questions regarding the application of copyright law.
Participants of the annual cultural and educational events “Masters of Belarusian Culture” transferred non-exclusive rights to the unique musical and literary works by Anatoly Bogatyrev, Evgeny Glebov, Alexei Dudarev, Vladimir Kondrusevich, Kondrat Krapiva, Igor Olovnikov to the Library. The National Library highly appreciates such a manifestation of the goodwill of composers, writers and artists, and also expresses gratitude to editors of magazines and newspapers, news agencies who send copies of publications to the Electronic Archive of National Periodicals and authors of dissertations who help replenish the Electronic Library of Dissertations and Abstracts of dissertations of the National Library."
The workshop “Copyright in the Republic of Belarus: Improving the Law in the Light of the Best Practices”, and a cultural and educational event with the participation of Nikolai Cherginets, famous Belarusian writer, chairperson of the Union of Writers of Belarus, scheduled in April 2020, is being postponed to a later time.
Pay attention to a new section of our portal "Copyright Issues", which contains the most relevant materials on amendments to the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Copyright and Related Rights". We hope that this will provide further information support in the corresponding field to libraries and partially replace the expected results of the seminar.
