On March 11th at 5 p.m. in the gallery “Labyrinth” takes place a literary-musical event “The melody of heart – the melody of light” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the world-known Polish composer, F. Chopin (1810–1849).


The whole cultural world widely celebrates the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin, the founder of Polish classical music, composer and pianist. The UNESCO has included the composer’s anniversary in the list of memorable dates and proclaimed 2010 the Year of Chopin.

National Library of Belarus has joined the world-wide celebration of the anniversary and prepared its own cultural project – the literary-musical event “The melody of heart – the melody of light”.

At the event visitors will see a very interesting and rich set of documents from the collections of the Library dedicated to the life and creative activity of Fryderyk Chopin.

A book-illustrative exhibition “The poet of the piano” will be presented within the framework of the literary-musical event. Books, music, audio records, albums, artworks and electronic publications will be displayed at the exposition.

At the same time, an art exhibition “The melody of light” will be opened. Aquarellists, painters, masters of photo and graphics will present their works dedicated to the great musician.

Guests of the event will see a concert, at which pianist-virtuoso Alexander Polyakov, actor and musician Mikhail Zuiy, students of Belarusian State Academy of Arts, Belarusian State Academy of Music and I.O. Akhremchik Gymnasium-College of Arts, and pupils of F. Chopin Children’s Musical Scholl № 3, will perform works by the eminent Polish composer – waltzes, mazurkas, polonaises and nocturnes.

On May 16, participants of the National Library of Belarus project "On the wave of time throughout life" visited the Uzden Central District Library named after Pavlyuk Trus, where they took part in the literary and musical festival "On the paths of bright spring.." dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the poet, member of the association "Maladnyak", native of Uzden region Pavlyuk Trus (1904-1929).
