The ceremonial opening of the exhibition “Francysk Skaryna’s Books from the collections of the National Library of Belarus” took place in the Museum of the Belarusian Book-printing (Polack) on September 10.
The exhibition is dedicated to significant events of the Belarusian culture – the 25th anniversary of the Museum of the Belarusian Book-printing and the 525th anniversary of Francysk Skaryna’s birth.
The Director of the National Polack National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Tamara Džumantajeva, the Director of the Museum of the Belarusian Book-printing Alena Šumovič and the Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for Research and Publishing Activities Aliaksandar Suša delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The collection includes 10 books of the Belarusian first printer Francysk Skaryna, which belong to the National Library of Belarus, and it is unique in Belarus.
Two Francysk Skaryna’s books from the collection of the National Library – “The Book of Kings” and “Ecclesiastes” printed in Prague in 1517 are shown at the exhibition.
The exhibition will last till September 30, 2015.
