On 26 April, a scientific workshop "Electronic Culture" was held within the framework of the 19th International Trade Fair and Congress "TIBO-2012" and the 16th International specialized exhibition "Mass Media in Belarus".


A welcoming speech was pronounced by Head of the Laboratory of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems NASB R. Grigyanets and Deputy Director for Research and Publishing Activities of the National Library of Belarus A. Susha.

During the event there were discussed problems on the modernization and automation of cultural and educational institutes. Workshop participants shared their experience in introducing new information technologies into the practice of modern libraries, museums, archives, etc. There were covered prospective guidlines of information and technological development of cultural institutions from the point of view of realization of the implementation of the national program "The Culture of Belarus" for 2011–2015 and the national program for the accelerated development of services in the field of information technology in 2011–2015.

At the seminar the speakers were representatives from the National Library of Belarus, the Belarusian State Institute of Culture, the Central Scientific Library named after Y. Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Library of the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Research Centre for Electronic Records, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Institute of History of NAS of Belarus, as well as members of the research and production firm INEAK and JLLC Silabs.

Students and participants in the discussions were from the leading cultural institutions of the country: the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academic Drama Theater named after Y. Kolas, The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State University Fundamental Library, regional and many other libraries, museums and theaters of the regional and national importance.
