The Department on Bibliographic Processing of Documents of the National Library of Belarus issued a practical manual “Bibliographic description of book editions: examples and guidelines".
The manual provides both examples of bibliographic records for books and guidelines for their drafting. The edition is based on the principals used in the National Library of Belarus.
The edition provides over 500 bibliographic descriptions in Belarusian, Russian and foreign languages. All bibliographic descriptions are represented in complete cataloging forms and contain authority records for names of persons and groups, as well as additional information about the access points.
The main text of the edition is structured according to the fields of the bibliographic description and semantic groups within each section, there is a systematic index. The most complex cataloging examples have explanations.
The edition is designed for organizations dealing with cataloging, as well as for training, retraining and advanced training of library staff.
